Watermark Movie Nights
Radio Interview at EzRock
On August the 4th I went to Ez Rock Osoyoos 1240 F.M for my final Media Interview. It was a lot of fun and this time around I wore Headphones so that I had to hear myself speak. Which was different. My interview with Ez Rock Osoyoos went up on the 10th of August, with my previous interview with the Osoyoos times being published on the 5th and my interview with Community Infromation Radio Osoyoos having went up practically as soon as we finished the interview. I will most likely have more media interviews in Merritt and feel well prepared for them now! Helicopter Tour of Osoyoos & Spotted Lake
I went with Okanagan Valley Helicopter tours & it was worth every penny! I went on an extended tour package, one that included a ride over Spotted Lake which is one of my favorite places in Osoyoos.
My Helicopter ride was SO exciting as the Pilot took off my door during our ride.
I had such a great time I am planning to go again for my Dad's Birthday. It was such a thrill that I don't remember every detail as the tour felt like it was merely minutes instead of 20 minutes. For more photos look at my Facebook Album here Osoyoos Helicopter Tour

Artisan Market at Osoyoos Art Gallery

On Saturday August 1st I stopped by the Artisan Market

Through out May & August the current Show at the Osoyoos Art Gallery is called Artisan Market and features an eclectic mix of Art from local artists. This is a first time Art Display for the Osoyoos Art Gallery and the collection includes Pottery, paintings, photographs, glass, jewelry, and fabric art all created by talented local artists. Please go and check out this fabulous display of talent within the community of Osoyoos and support this show. I hope that this is the first of many successful summer seasons for the Artisan Market. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief tour of the collection and intend to return to the Art Gallery once more before my candidacy ends to enjoy the art!

Media Week

The "press week" started On July 29th
On Wednesday July 29th Viveka Jensen and I headed off to our first "media" interview, of which we will be attending through out the 29th until August 4th.
This is in an effort to promote the British Columbia Ambassador Program as well as talk about our time spent and our experiences as BC Ambassador candidates. It was also a time to discuss what it was like representing Osoyoos for a second time as we had both reigned as Princesses of Osoyoos, with my own reign lasting from 2008 until 2010 and Viveka's reign taking place from 2013-2014.
Our first interview on July 29th was with Community Information Radio Osoyoos on 106.5 FM with Randy Bedard at the radio station located within Destination Osoyoos. Unfortunately due to technical difficulties the interviews had to be postponed and completed separately versus together.
The Following Day on July 30th we visited the Osoyoos Times for an interview and a photo op. Just before we leave for Merritt we will be talking to Randy Farmer with EZ Rock Osoyoos on August 4th.
Previously we completed an interview with Osoyoos Daily News and Ripples Publishing online magazine.

Watermark Presents Summer Movies

On Tuesday July 28th, I went over to Watermark Beach Resort for the evening showing of Jurassic Park. Where $5.00 paid my entrance into the movie and bought a popcorn and a drink. The theatre was located in the conference room where they had chairs set up as well as pillows & fluffy beach towels.
Sadly the movie was canceled due to a lack of people, as there was only myself and one other young man. I did get to chat with the hotel worker who was running the event and she told me that they have had a good turn out for movies aimed towards younger audiences.

Art in the Garden 2015

On Sunday July 26th I attended the 5th annual Art in the Garden
Between the three communities there were 18 Artists showcasing their creations at 4 different locations that hosted the various Art in the Garden Events.
I personally went to the studio of Katie Foster which was the 3rd tour stop for the 2015 Art in the Garden.
Over all the purpose behind the Art in the Garden
is to spend an afternoon exploring the stunning scenery of the Okanagan - Similkameen area whilst enjoying an Art based Tour traveling from Keremeos to Osoyoos. versa.
If you wanted to start your Art in the Garden tour from Keremeos you would first visit Bonny Roberts Fine Art Studio. Well traveling west towards Osoyoos as you traverse the Okanagan landscape be sure to stop by Cawston and visit The Forbidden Fruit Winery which is the second tour stop.
After you enter Osoyoos head South towards the Border to stop by at Katie Foster's Ceramic studio which is stop number 3. Before traveling east through the town of Osoyoos towards Anarchist mountain where you would conclude your Art in the Garden tour by visiting East Bench studio as hosted by Sharon Leonard.
At each location you would get a unique stamp in your Art in the Garden tour passport and if you managed to visit all 4 locations during the weekend events, you could use your passport as an entry into a Draw for a basket full of Fine Wine and Art.
No matter where you visit there is an eclectic mix of Art including mediums such as Acrylic paintings, Water colors, Oils, Photography, Pottery, Jewelry and ceramic art. Each location also served as a chance to spotlight local Wines as different wineries were hosting tastings to go along with your art viewing pleasure.
During my afternoon I enjoyed gorgeous views of Osoyoos Lake as I walked around and looked at Paintings, ceramic Pottery and Jewelry in the garden & studio of Katie Foster. I also spent some time talking to some of the artists and event bought 3 Postcards replicating the intricate paintings done by Jane Scheffler showcasing some stunning Osoyoos landscapes.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first time attending the annual Art in the Garden event and only wish I had more time to visit the other Art in the Garden Locations.
I want to commend the group who have spent 5 years organizing the Art in the Garden and congratulate everyone who took part. From the Artists showcasing your art, those promoting wine, or anyone who helped ensure the success of the event Garden! The hard work is appreciated, admired and respected.
I have to say that the South Okanagan is full of such phenomenally talented people and we are immensely lucky to have opportunities to appreciate the Fine Arts. I thoroughly enjoy all things associated with Fine arts whether it's watching people singing, dancing, or acting, to listening to bands or orchestra's as well as visiting local Art Galleries and attending Art focused events.
