Osoyoos Young Artists - Art Display at the Osoyoos Art Gallery

On Saturday afternoon I went to the Osoyoos Art Gallery to view the Osoyoos Young Artists showcase which was being displayed from April 4th to April 25th. I had actually previously seen the display when I went into the Art Gallery to Join Osoyoos & District Arts Council. However this time I was taking my mom to see the art.

The Art Gallery is on the small size with two showcase rooms but I like it because it feels more cozy. This particular art display was featuring the Young talent that Osoyoos has to offer. Some of the Artists were as young as 2 years old and the eldest were the local 18 year olds. Art was submitted by the three schools in town as well as one of the day cares.

I was awe struck by how talented everyone was and was extremely proud of all of the art being displayed. One could tell how much work was put into the pieces. There was also quite a variety of art on display everything from pencil drawings to paper mache, Marconi art, to sculptures and all that in between!

In this last picture one of the Art Gallery Volunteers is showing me a particularily powerful piece that was inspired by Emma Sulkowicz aka mattress girl The artist painted Emma Dragging her mattress around. If you are unfamiliar with Emma's story I highly recommend you read more about her above by clicking on her name. She's truly a strong young woman and this piece is such a brilliant tribute to her, her story and her cause which is to bring attention to Sexual Violence that happens in Post Secondary Educational institutions like Colleges or Universities.

MS Fundraiser & BBQ

MS Fundraiser and BBQ

On April 25th I went to the Osoyoos MS Fundraiser and BBQ held at Buy-Low Foods - Osoyoos. There was quite a bit going on at the BBQ including 50/50 tickets, a raffle draw and of course the delicious Hamburgers & Hot Dogs that were for sale.

In the picture Above I am standing with the MS Group members & the chef of the afternoon. I have been attending this annual BBQ for several years now, even attending it as an Osoyoos Princess. So I was very happy to be able to attend as a British Columbia Ambassador Candidate.

For those that don't know May is MS Awareness Month. So that is what the proceeds of the BBQ is going towards!

SOAP Presents the Melville Boys

Way back in January I auditioned for South Okanagan Amateur Players Spring production which of course is The Melville Boys.  Although I did not get a part I did help a little bit with social media.
The Melville Boys had performances in Osoyoos on April 24th & 25th. I attended the Opening night performance on Friday night which was the 24th.
Here I am posing in front of a Cast Photo Display that was set up in the Foyer.

What was sadly unique to this SOAP production was the fact that it was dedicated to the late Longtime member of SOAP Jennifer Maplebeck who recently passed away. A worthy reason why you should go see the play [if you have yet to do so] is that $2.00 from Every ticket sold is going to Frank Venables Theatre as  a memorial of Jennifer's longtime dedication to local theatre. She  was more or less a lifetime member of SOAP as well as an active member of the Oliver Community and she will be truly missed. I have to say that by witnessing a large portion of the Audience give a standing Ovation on Friday Night I felt as if Jennifer was proudly looking down at everyone and clapping along with everyone else.

I just want to congratulate the entire cast & Crew for putting on such an excellent show and for SOAP as a group for continuing to raise the caliber of the productions they put on. Everyone Did such a fantastic Job and I think it was a truly fabulous Directorial Debut for Nathan Linders.

I also must say a special shout to the Set crew which included Jennifer, her husband Brian and another long time member of SOAP, Tom. The set was so gorgeous and truly well done and I was thoroughly impressed with how fantastic it looked!!
I highly recommend for anyone who has yet to see it, check out one of the Oliver Performances. The Melville Boys will be at Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver on Friday May 1st and Saturday May the 2nd with the curtain rising promptly at 8 p.m both evenings. Tickets are still for sale at Sundance Video in Oliver, Yore Dollar Store with More in Osoyoos and the dragons den in Penticton for $18.00 or available at the door for $20.00. I hope everyone attends one of the Shows and supports the local fine arts and theatre in our community

Earth Day 2015

Earth Day 2015 ~ April 22nd, 2015

For Earth Day 2015 I spent time walking around downtown and visited one of the many parks found in Osoyoos - The Vetrans Park. Which is very close to one of the shore Sides of Osoyoos Lake. This quaint little park offers stunning views of Lake Osoyoos                                             and offers lot's of shade and protection from the sun.
I also spent the day basking in the gorgeous Osoyoos Sunshine as I walked around collecting business cards from the different businesses in town.
Earlier that morning I went off to work at Watermark Beach Resort and spent some time watching two young children. During our time together we spent some time blowing bubbles outside in the Bright sunshine where  I got some pictures from a different perspective of Lake Osoyoos.

I hope everyone got to spend some time outside enjoying the Earth during Earth Day!

Mary Kay Makeover

On April 21st I attended a Mary Kay Makeover Party hosted by friend Shanowa & her Mary Kay Consultant Angela. Feel free to check out Angela's Mary Kay website by clicking here
During our party we had a full facial which included products in the Time Wise Miracle Set
The ladies and I were also treated to a Satin Lips Set  which included a Balm & mask. We used the TimeWise 3 in 1 Cleanser followed by the TimeWise Age Fighting MoisturizerTimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer with SPF 30 and this product in particular was my favorite from the evening.
We Also used products like TimeWise Day/Night Solution Set as well as the TimeWise Microdermabrasion set followed by the TimeWise Firming Eye Cream. We also did a mini hand treatment which included products from Fragrance-Free Satin Hands Pampering Set. After our skin was smooth and soft as can be we got into the fun portion of the evening which was Makeup application! I learned so many quick tips and tricks that I will be using during the British Columbia Ambassador pageant in August!

At the start of the evening we were given little Gift bags which included a face cloth, makeup applicators, some candy, a sample eye liner and a sample of the infamous Mary Kay Satin Hands
For our makeovers we created a Basic Glowy Goddess themed look which was the ultimate go to look and perfect for both night & Day as it could easily be built on to be customized for whatever look you were going for. For the foundation application we were each given a Mary Kay Mineral Foundation Brush to use and taught how to properly use our brushes.
For my foundation we used Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation in Ivory 1

Next we used Mary Kay Cream Blush in Sheer Bliss which again was another product I really loved because of it's versatility. It could be used for a subtle look or built upon and create a more dramatic look!

For our Eyes we used Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara in Black and two shades of the Mary Kay Cream Eye Color collection. We used Beach Blonde for our base shade and Iced Cocoa for our statement color. Follow this we opened up our mini Single use our Mary May Eye Liner samples in Black.
Lastly everyone got to choose a shade of Mary Kay Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss and I choose Pink Luster.
I also have to mention that this eye makeup photo was from several hours later so it truly didn't smudge that much and combined with the finishing spray my makeup pretty much stayed on point!
For our final step everyone was sprayed with Mary Kay Finishing Spray by Skindinävia which was a product that I ended up purchasing!
Clearly I am really messy with makeup when you look at my Mirror shots from Before and After but over all I was super happy with how my Makeup turned out and how lovely my skin soft. Later in the week I ended up meeting with Angela and decided to become a Mary Kay consultant because you have to pay for that pageant Life somehow! So I'm really happy to see where that takes me and at the end of the day I'm just really happy that I can now purchase my makeup staples that I will need for August at a slightly cheaper cost!!! Anyway like I said I was super happy with how it all looked and had so much fun at the Makeup party. I certainly learned so much that will probably help me out quite a bit in August at the pageant.

Osoyoos Autism Behavioural Centre's Walk for Awareness

On April 18th I attended the Osoyoos Autism Behavioral Centre and Society's Walk for Awareness and family friendly celebrations. I unfortunately was not able to make it for the actual walk portion of the afternoon but  I did spend a fair bit of time at the Celebration portion of the afternoon which was held at the Sonora Community Centre. It's kind of hard to explain in a way but it was almost like an indoor family fun carnival with a live band, face painting, a fun zone set up for the kids in the center of the room and lot's of goodies and snacks to eat.

By the time I arrived the afternoon was in full swing and I saw many happy children playing and just having a total blast. Meanwhile I took the time to visit the different information booths and learn more about the event as well as Autism in general. One of the groups I spoke to included Bikers For Autism who were attending from the Vancouver area.

I am happy to say that in my opinion the event was a huge success and I just want to commend everyone who was involved. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so much joy and happiness at an event aimed to raise awareness. I even picked up a handmade Autism pin from the Osoyoos Autism Behavioral Centre and Society - it was a hand painted puzzle piece. I plan to keep it on my Banner until the end of the Month since April is Autism awareness month.

I would again like to commend the Osoyoos Autism Behavioral Centre and Society on hosting such a successful event. I have total faith that they will continue to provide great services for the community of Osoyoos!

Spring Side Walk Sale & Cancer Fundraiser

Spring Side walk Sale & Cancer Garage Sale Fundraiser

On April 18th after the Osoyoos Soroptimist Spring Fashion Show I headed downtown to walk around and check out the Spring Side walk sale. The Osoyoos Credit Union was also hosting a Garage Sale as a Fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society & the town's inaugural Daffodil Dash.
