The Great outdoors of British Columbia

Picture of sẁiẁs Provincial Park [Formerly Haynes Point] in Osoyoos

British Columbia has the second largest parks system in the world after Canada's National Parks. 13.9 million hectares or 14.7 % of British Columbia is Protected which is more than any other Province in Canada. In 2011 BC Parks celebrated it's 100th Birthday - BC Parks 100 marking the establishment of the first BC Provincial Park, Strathcona Park, on March 1st, 1911.

The Government of BC owns about 90% of the Land within the Province nearly half of which is covered by trees and is home to 2/3 of the Provinces bird Species and land mammals.  With the Provincial Government working since the 1970's to protect British Columbia from excessive logging and development.

Today has 1,030 designated Parks and Protected areas
Which takes into the account the hard work of the BC Government since 2001 who established 84 new parks, 156 conservancies, two ecological reserves, and thirteen protected areas. As well as working towards the expansion of 75 parks, six ecological, three protected areas. The Government accounts for the responsibility including protection of 2.3 million Hectares of land which is over 4 times the size of Prince Edward Island.
Part of this protected land includes the 200,000 hectare habitat for the Spirit Bear which is also called the Kermode Bear and is the Provinces official Mammal.

The Current Parks and Protected areas in British Columbia include Regional, Provincial and National Parks, Provincial and National Historic Sites, Recreational areas, Provincial Marine Parks, Conservation Areas, National Park Reserves and Ecological Reserves

BC Parks and Protected areas attract more than 20 million visitors yearly with almost 90% of British Columbians having used a Provincial Park at Some point, with an estimated 6 out of 10 residents of BC using a Provincial Park Annually.

Roughly 1/3 of the parks offer some developed facilities such as Picnic Shelters, Boat Launches and parking areas. With more than 230 of those parks having facilities that cater to those with Disabilities. Within the Provincial Parks there are 340 campgrounds accounting for 11,000 Campsites.

Nearly 1/10 of the Provincial Parks are wilderness that is largely undisturbed and untouched by Civilization, there is an estimated 6,000 KM of Hiking trails that are frequently used by Backpackers and Mountaineers.

The oldest Park in BC is Strathcona Park which was the Province's first established Provincial Park in 1911 and is where you can find the 440 metre Della Falls which is the highest Waterfall in Canada and one of the 10 Highest Falls in the World.
The Largest Park is Tweedsmuir Park with 989, 616 hectares of land with the smallest park of Memory Island clocking in at less than 1 hectare.

Other parks of note include the Tatshenshini-Alesk Park which is 947, 026 Hectares in size and alongside adjacent parks in Alaska and the Yukon Territory forms the worlds largest international World Heritage site. The Khutzeymateen park is Canada's only Grizzly Bear Reserve and is home to at least 50 Grizzly Bears.
The largest in tact Coastal Temperate Rain forest in the world is in Kitlope Heritage Conservancy. The world's most productive Sockeye Salmon Run can be viewed at Roderick Haig-Brown park.

V Day ~ Vagina Monologues Makeup Guide

V Day 2015 ~ Vagina Monologues Makeup

So as I have mentioned I am a part of the V Day Oliver-Osoyoos Group and further more a cast member in their 2015 production of the Vagina Monologues. So this will be my Make-Up product guide. Heads up stage makeup is quite different to day to day makeup. I am fully aware that my face is a few times darker than it normally is. I am also now aware that my foundation is quite blotchy and that the over all look was not so great for the first evening performance (which are the pictures you see here.) Thank goodness that stage lighting fixes all the little imperfections ;)

Makeup Guide

Pre-Makeup

I started with my beloved Clinique Moisture Surge At the moment I am fairly broke so I don't actually use a Makeup Primer. So I use my Moisture Surge as a combination of my Moisturizer and my primer. So far it works okay for me. However I don't really expect my makeup to last me for hours on end. So in the mean time skipping a primer and using this instead works well enough for me.

Next & Not pictured I spray on a home made Makeup Setting spray.
Next I put on my Body Glitter which I used what I think is now a discontinued product
from Passion Parties Canada
as  I can't seem to find it in
their current store
but feel free to look here

For my nails I used OPI Bond Girls Liquid Sand
in Honey Rider (Seen here on EBAY)

Makeup used

Face

As a part of a corrector I used my handy dandy Jane Iredale Circle Delete Concealer #2 in peach to camouflage my imperfections. Which came with my Jane Iredale Starter kit in Porcelain
Not shown but  I used my  Dream Tint in Light that has SPF 15 to further correct my little imperfections.
Also from this set I used the Blush which is called PurePressed Blush in Sheer Honey
I used my  Benefit The Porefessional Pore Balm to help hide any pore related imperfections.

For my foundation I used my Jane Iredale Bronzer in So-Bronze 1
Typically if I'm going to do the bronzer I would normally cover it in a light layer of one of my Jane Iredale foundations to lighten the color a bit but since I was on stage I basically used just that.

For this paticular look I added a layer of Body Shimmer using another Passion Party Product called Gold Dust Body Powder (#3020C)  which gave me a nice shimmery layer.

Eyes

For my Eyes I used my all time favorite Eye Shadow trio set which
Jane Iredale is actually such a well made product that when you layer it up enough it is a rich enough color to withstand the harsh stage lights! Which I love because proper stage makeup is quite Harsh so when I found an alternative that I could use daily yet also use on stage when needed I instantly fell in Love!

For Mascara I used my current go to which is Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black. As a hint I actually apply my Mascara during my Prep steps. That way I can erase any little blots before Foundation layer!

For Eyeliner I used L'oreal Super Liner Mat-Matic in Taupe Gray on my top lids and lined my lower lids using my Essence Eyeliner Pen. I really like the Eyeliner pen because it give's a really nice POP and adds lots of nice drama to my eyes without too much smudging.

LIPS

To start I lined my lips using my Mysterious yet effective Lip Liner pen!
Followed by my Sample sized Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in LA

I then used my DuWop Lip Venom
Lip Plumper

Followed by my trusted lipstick which is L'oreal Paris Colour Riche LipColour in Classic Wine

Back stage I applied my LipFusion
Lip Plump Color Shine in Sexy

However I feel like that during tonight's
Performance I will add my favorite
Clinique Chubby stick intense
moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in
Heftiest Hibiscus to my backstage go-to products for quick pop's of color.

International Day of Forests

Today on March 21st it is considered International Day of Forests and has been an Official United Nations event since 2011. Today is a day to celebrate and raise awareness for the importance of all kinds of different forests and trees outside of forests.

The 2015 theme for the International Day of Forests #IntlForestDay is "Forests and climate change - Create a climate smart future." The over all goal today is to address climate change and highlight forest based solutions including sustainable development.

Did you know that forests cover a third of the Earth's Land mass and are some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on land & are home to more than 80% of Terrestrial species of Animals, plants, and insects. Roughly 1.6 billion people which includes more than 2,000 indigenous cultures depend on Forests for their survival & livelihood and provide them with things like shelter, jobs, and natural  security.
Despite the many ecological, economical and social & health benefits  Deforestation accounts for 12 to 20 percent of the global greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.   Ultimately this accounts for 12-20% of Global greenhouse gas emissions.

Ways that you can participate are by Joining the global celebration of forests on social media by following us on twitter @UNDESA #IntlForestDay and #action2015. You can also connect with us on Facebook.com/ joinUNDESAYou can get involved by creating your own International Forest Day exhibit on the lead up to the Day by using the design material available and by using the hashtag #IntlForestDay on social media.
