Chelsea's Mad Method to tackle on stage Presentations

Chelsea's Mad method for making presentations

I AM basically going to let you all in on SUPER Secret method that I meticulously created last year and now use  to prepare for  anything I do on stage that includes the act of breaking down and eventually combining verbal & non-verbal parts needed to perfect your stage presence and presentation.

Basically I came up with this method Last year when I appeared in my first Principal Role with South Okanagan Amateur Players

I use recordings as part of my Practice System to help me prepare hyper focus and prepare for specific components to on stage communication including Verbal & Non verbal.

For my method I record 4  videos  of myself practicing whatever it is I'm working on breaking down each video by focusing on Verbal & non verbal communication even going so far as breaking it down further by creating different videos for Facial emotions & physical body movements. Before putting it All together.

The 4 STEPS

  1. For the first video I record myself sitting directly in front of my camera and simply recite verbally whatever it is I am working on.
  2. My second video is strictly my facial gestures I plan to make during my presentation which included me recording hundreds of minute long videos last year where I am  totally silent and reacting  using ONLY my face to that scene.
  3. The Third video is where I work on using my physical and over all body gestures/posture & movement by staying silent and maintaining a neutral face throughout.
  4. FOR the FINAL video recording using my method I take everything I gleaned from all the other videos & apply it all. Basically I give my verbal presentation whilst moving around and using my face to emote further!
Last year was a great practice makes perfect scenario as I had a huge part and broke my method down into what was probably hundreds upon hundreds of me breaking down every scene [going from entrances & exits] and all of the musical numbers. I basically spent an entire week meticulously applying this new method to the entire script & Musical arrangement from  Nunset Boulevard

I HOPE this makes sense and gives you some ideas on how you can better prepare for & perfect any presentations!

My Final Social Media Goals & Plans for my BC Ambassador Candidacy

My Final BCAP Social Media plans & Goals

I am calling this the final BCAP week in which I will be doing all of my final British Columbia Ambassador Program related Blogs on WordPress & Blogger, YouTube Vlogs, Tweets, and Facebook Posts. In Case you noticed I skipped final Instagram posts because #Throwbacks will always be a thing. So between today September 13th and ending next Sunday on September 20th be prepared to be amazed at my final BCAP Social media shenanigans.

My Goals are to write and upload final blogs & Vlogs and clean those sites up like making sure all of my BC Ambassador videos on YouTube are found on my official British Columbia Ambassador Candidacy Vlog playlist & the list is in chronological or at least logical sense.

I want to write and speak about my final thoughts, give recaps on what happened in Merritt as well as my candidacy over all. Make sure that all of my meaningful & thankful shout out’s have blog & Vlog counter parts. I want to make sure that throughout all of the platforms you can glean a clear sense of what my candidacy was like from start to finish whether you witness it its glory in its entirety or enjoy sneak peeks & Shortened showings.

By the end of the week everything will look tidy & neat [especially my Facebook page specifically my photo albums] that there are easy ways to find links & portals to take you to the rest of my journey spread throughout all of my various social media platforms.

You should also have a solid idea on what my candidacy was like from start to finish, whether it’s viewing a timeline of 1 photo per event in town [I attended over a 100] or seeing exactly who supported me during my Journey.
Finally I want you all to glean my initial reasons for why I entered the British Columbia Ambassador Program, what I was hoping to gain and the transition to how, when and  what I did gain including the meaningful lessons & insights.
I would also like to have a documented sense of my entire experience with the British Columbia Ambassador Program starting from the first time I attended the pageant in August of 2008. Showing you to how I grew as a person through my experiences with the program throughout the years. With a particular emphasis on how I grew as a person and benefited immensely during my time as a 2015 British Columbia Ambassador Candidate.

Lastly after reviewing my entire journey through out my 6 month candidacy spread out over roughly 22 weeks and 153 days, spanning over hundreds of events. Upon all of this you should be able to see the benefits of the British Columbia Ambassador Program and frankly try to come up with reasons as to why you shouldn’t personally take part in it if you were given the opportunity!!!!!

Media Week

The "press week" started On July 29th
On Wednesday July 29th Viveka Jensen and I headed off to our first "media" interview, of which we will be attending through out the 29th until August 4th.
This is in an effort to promote the British Columbia Ambassador Program as well as talk about our time spent and our experiences as BC Ambassador candidates. It was also a time to discuss what it was like representing Osoyoos for a second time as we had both reigned as Princesses of Osoyoos, with my own reign lasting from 2008 until 2010 and Viveka's reign taking place from 2013-2014.
Our first interview on July 29th was with Community Information Radio Osoyoos on 106.5 FM  with Randy Bedard at the radio station located within Destination Osoyoos. Unfortunately due to technical difficulties the interviews had to be postponed and completed separately versus together.

The Following Day on  July 30th we visited the Osoyoos Times for an interview and a photo op. Just before we leave for Merritt we will be talking to Randy Farmer with EZ Rock Osoyoos on August 4th.

Previously we completed an interview with Osoyoos Daily News and Ripples Publishing online magazine.

Board of Directors Meeting for South Okanagan Toastmasters Club #7791

On August 25th I attended my first Board meeting for Toastmasters
Back in June I was elected as Vice President Public Relations for South Okanagan Toastmasters Club #7791 and will serve on the board of directors for the next year. Along side my fellow board members.

On Tuesday at our Summer July meeting which was held here in Osoyoos at a fellow board members house. During the evening I presented the newest version of my British Columbia Program Community speech about Osoyoos as part of my judged public events. I also received my official Toastmasters International Name tag which was just in time.

As today on July 25th we held our first Board meeting where  we  went over the expected budget for this year [2015/2016.]  The Board also talked about any club news and went over initial goals both as a club and for each individual board member and their respective duties.

Over all it was an incredibly productive meeting with lot's of ideas mentioned and a decent amount of work accomplished. As a board I am looking forward to working together with my team to ensure the continued success of our Club as well as  helping empower other people by giving them the tools needed to glean  essential Skills in communication as well as leadership over all!

World Tuberculosis Day

World Tuberculosis Day

World Tuberculosis Day

Today March 24th is known as World Tuberculosis Day - World Health Organization . World TB day (United Nations) is hosted by World Health Organization  and has been an annual event since 1982. March 24th was chosen as World TB day (WTBD)  because on March 24th back in 1882 a Doctor by the name of Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis which is the bacteria that causes Tuberculosis (aka TB.)

Today on World (Stop) TB Day  serves as a day for the world to group together to raise awareness for Tuberculosis and mobilize Political and Social Commitment of continued progress towards fully eliminating TB. Though there has been a lot of progress with TB it remains one of  the worlds top health challenges with dismal statistics. In 2013 there were 9 million new Tuberculosis cases & 1.5 million people have died.
For World Tuberculosis Day 2015 the theme is Reach. Treat. Cure Everyone. It is a call on all global citizens to continue the commitment to find, treat and cure all people with TB as well as the continual effort to eventually ending Tuberculosis all together by 2035. The 2015 World TB Day will signal the push for a renewed effort to alert Health Ministers to the global, regional and National TB emergency and emphasize the fact that current TB Situation is unacceptable.
The campaign this year (2015)  also provides the platform needed to highlight the urgent need to fill the funding gap of $2 billion USD needed for TB interventions,  research and development and highlight the need to eliminate barriers to recommended TB Drugs and diagnostics..
TB should be everyone's concern and there fore everyone should take an active role in fighting against Tuberculosis.

How you can help-
Social media: Members of the public can join the World TB Day awareness-raising campaign hrough social media to bring attention to the Stop TB & World TB Day issues.
You can take part by using the Suggested  hashtags #WTBD2015 #WorldTBDay2015 and #ReachTreatCureEveryone  #TB and checking out the Stop TB Partnership Facebook Page or tweeting  @StopTB on Twitter

As of of today 9 million people become sick with Tuberculosis annually and roughly 3 million of those people do not get the care they deserve since they are either undiagnosed, untreated and ultimately uncured. In 2015 WHO wants to improve the quality of existing programmes and access to care and services of those who are impacted by Tuberculosis.

There is a critical need to address weaknesses in Countries health systems and push the need for sustained and regular funding, political engagement and ultimately support. Countries need to take TB seriously and thus up their investments in Tuberculosis in a way that is cost efficient.TB should be everyone's concern and there fore everyone should take an active role in fighting against Tuberculosis.

endtb
In May of 2014 the WHO passed and approved a New Post 2015 Global Tuberculosis strategy called the WHO End TB Strategy. The idea is to create a  world free of tuberculosis and end TB forever by 2035. The major parts of the Strategy were as follows

  • INTEGRATED, PATIENT-CENTRED CARE AND PREVENTION
  • BOLD POLICIES AND SUPPORTIVE SYSTEMS
  • INTENSIFIED RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
The principles are

  1. Government stewardship and accountability, with monitoring and evaluation
  2.  Strong coalition with civil society organizations and communities
  3.  Protection and promotion of human rights, ethics and equity
  4. Adaptation of the strategy and targets at country level, with global collaboration
Some of the goals of the strategy are to decrease the rates of Tuberculosis related deaths by certain percents and specific times. By 2020 they want to reduce TB related deaths by 35%, in 2025 they want to reduce the rate by 75%, in 2030 they want to see the rate of TB caused deaths as low as 90% and eventually work towards 95% to total eradication of Tuberculosis and TB Caused deaths to  by 2035.

The End TB strategy  calls on governments to adapt and implement the strategy with high-level commitment and financing . It reinforces a focus within the strategy on serving populations highly vulnerable to infection and poor health care access, such as migrants. The strategy and resolution highlight the need to engage partners within the health sector and beyond, such as in the fields of social protection, labour, immigration and justice. The resolution requests the WHO Secretariat to help Member States adapt and operationalize the strategy, noting the importance of tackling the problem of multidrug-resistant TB and promoting collaboration across international borders. WHO is also asked to monitor implementation and evaluate progress towards the milestones and the 2035 targets.

My Social Media intentions

During my time as a British Columbia Ambassador candidate I want my journey to be inclusive whilst allowing you to follow along in unique ways by using a variety of Social networking platforms. I want to have a place to recount my experiences in ways that are more than just posting pictures, more than just online photo albums and more than just videos.

I want to write my thoughts and feelings, see pictures of the little moments and have the videos to always look back on. All together these things will act as the pieces of the puzzle of my time as a British Columbia Ambassador candidate. When the puzzle has been completed I will ensure it's safety and make sure it is timeless, so that it can be something that I will always treasure and be able to look back on. I want to use all of these things - Facebook, instagram, Blogging, and vlogging so that my journey and all of my experiences are fully archived and further cementing my Life Legacy.

Something that is truly very important to me is creating a COMMUNITY more so than just a fan page during my candidacy as a British Columbia Ambassador program Candidate. Secondly I feel very strongly about always expressing my gratitude. I am committed to showing my appreciation to all of you as we grow together as a community.
I have already stated to plan future give-aways that I will host when we reach certain milestones. I will to do my best to give back to you in unique and different ways. I want to always make sure that all of you know how truly grateful I am. I feel like by doing this it will encourage and entice you to continually interact with my page and follow me along my Journey.

I wish to share this journey together and all be able to take something away from it. I wish to grow as a person and continue to challenge myself. I want to continue to use social media as a place for me to reflect upon my experiences in a positive way. I want to allow myself to review and identify the challenges I faced and how I over came them. I plan to use social media as part of my public accountability. I want to use it to motivate me & help me stay on track. I want all of you to identify and relate to me through out my experiences. I am hoping that you can glean something from me, my life and more importantly how I live that life.
