Hello Everyone
My name is Chelsea Cameron-Horner and I am 23 years old and was born and raised in Osoyoos. I will be representing my home town throughout the next few months as I am presently a British Columbia Ambassador Candidate. I am an empathetic, energetic and Artistic person that values compassion towards others above all else. Most of all I am honored to be able to represent my community at the upcoming British Columbia Ambassador Pageant in August.
The British Columbia Program has a mandate of Motivation, Education and Self Esteem and is a Scholarship based Program that started in 1999. It has become an annual event and is open to any young man or woman between the ages of 17 to 24, who have previously held a Royalty or Ambassador title in their respective communities.
Candidates are expected to have a self guided candidacy as they work on their upcoming speeches, study for the Knowledge exam and take on an active role within their community including fundraising for the program. The candidates are judged on General knowledge of British Columbia & current events, public speaking, personal interviews and how they represented their community during their Candidacy as well as their community presentations during the Competition.
The British Columbia Ambassador Program (FB page) offers bursaries and scholarships to assist the youth in pursuing their dreams and fulfilling their ambitions. All candidates in the British Columbia Ambassador Program may apply for scholarships provided by our post-secondary sponsors.
Candidates can also earn scholarship money in varying amounts by achieving the top score in Public speaking, community presentation, Promotion award, people’s choice and Sponsorship & fundraising. As well as achieving top marks in the British Columbia Knowledge exam.
