Earth Hour 2015




Earth Hour 2015 - March 28th - 8:30 PM -Around the World
Today on March 28th is Earth Hour 2015. Earth hour is a global movement started in 2007 by the World Wildlife Foundation  and has since expanded into it's own charity organization called Earth Hour. It has been an annual event since it's first year in 2007 when it was observed  in Sydney Australia. Earth hour is presently observed in 162 different countries and territories across the world and is a movement has achieved a huge Environmental impact including influencing legislation changes.

The theme of Earth Hour 2015 is to Change Climate Change using #YourPower and participation in Earth Hour 2015- Facebook  event is as easy as turning off all non-essential power sources for one hour between 8:30 - 9:30 p.m your local time. You are encouraged to use this hour as a time of reflection as to how you can commitment to giving back to  the planet. Using Earth Hour 2015 Live tracker you can add your own event to the virtual map. This year a new initiate is the Concert for the Planet  hosted by the Global Orchestra. They are inviting you to play music whilst making a global commitment  to listen to each other to help identify and work together towards our Planets needs. 

This inaugural concert for the Planet is mass participation, multi-location and simultaneous performance of Holst's "The Planets." On the count down to Earth hour, direct from the Sydney Opera Hourse, a live stream of Conductor David Robertson will go live. Anyone, anywhere on the planet is invited to and encouraged to play along with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. You don't even have to be a skilled musician or play an instrument simply pick a movement or a phrase and re-interpret
Be a player, a listener or an organiser.
